The Friends of the Library is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to enhancing the holdings of the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library through membership pledges, fundraising, and endowments. Our terms of service are from Oct. 1 to Sept 30 of each year. The library is very grateful to the Friends for all of their time and dedication to making this institution a success. Funding from the Friends has provided the library with:
Books and e-book readers
Large-print and audio books
Magazines and newspapers
The summer reading program
Programs like “Check Out the Blues” and “The Screening Room” film series
Computers and software
Shelving for Youth Area
Software for the Digital Archive
Bookstore- CURRENT HOURS: MON-FRI 12:00-4:00PM
Much of the support provided to the library by the Friends is through the Friends' Bookstore. Located on the first floor and operated completely by volunteers, the Friends' Bookstore offers used books and magazines at next-to-nothing prices. The bookstore accepts donations of used books, magazines, and other materials. For more information, contact the Bookstore at 256-764-6564, ext. 119.

If you too are a strong advocate of the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, become a member of the Friends or donate your time by volunteering in the Bookstore. Be sure to include the name of the person(s) being remembered or honored and provide the name and address of the person to whom the notice of the memorial will be sent. Also include the name and address of the contributor so that an acknowledgement can be mailed.
